Chameleon is licensed and accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to welcome in its premises and take care of young girls, victims of sexual abuse.

Two care-centers offer Chameleon girls a healthy environment where they can live safely and rediscover the innocence of childhood: speaking freely, playing, going to school and learning. To help the girls achieve the inner equilibrium and well-being, Chameleon employs a wholesome approach and services:

  • Education
  • Psychological follow-up
  • Medical assistance
  • Legal support
  • Values development
  • Sports and artistic activities

Chameleon covers the school fees, school supplies and uniform, transportation, food and board. Assistance is handled and adapted accordingly to the situation of each girl.

Reintegration

After three years in the center, the girls are united with their families (biological or foster) and reintegrated into the community.
Reintegrated girls continue to be monitored and supported by Chameleon and their sponsors (2 to 3 sponsors per girl) until the end of their schooling. Chameleon’s social workers coordinate with local, public social workers of the areas or villages where children live.

Thanks to the sponsors, the association send 300 underpriviledged children to school. It provides for education fees, school uniforms, transport to school, healthcare expenses. Medical, dental and ophthalmologic visits are carried out regularly, as well as lectures on prevention of common diseases and children’s rights.

For extremely poor families, children going or returning to school represent a loss of ressources. Chameleon helps them to come up and develop alternative means for livelihood. The association has developed a “personalized” assistance. Parents have not only seen their living standards improve, but were also able to gain self-confidence, participate more easily in family reunions, speak in public, and influence other families to gain profit out of their newly acquired skills.

The principal objective of this program is to avoid child labor, to send children to school and make families self-reliant and responsible. Emphasis is put on professional trainings for the parents and development of mini income-generating projects.

Every year, Chameleon support 400 children through its health program. The association offered them material, and medecine and organise information and vaccination campaigns. Chameleon organises also prevention campaign towards children and their relatives.

Chameleon raises awareness among the Filipino communities and authorities about child abuse and domestic violence. In the Philippines, the association runs awareness-raising campaigns in urban and rural communities, using tools such as media, shows, lectures, seminars and publications.

In Europe, Chameleon mobilizes students and professionals, encouraging their civic involvement and participation in community and charity work.

The Chameleon Farm is generating revenues for the families and a Butterfly Sanctuary is open.
